Gyroscopic precession is a key principle that is used in aviation in designing instruments for pilots to use when flying in the clouds without visual reference to the ground. This turn and bank indicator is very similar to the turn coordinator except that the turn coordinator can show both rate of turn AND rate of roll. The turn coordinator does this through the tilt of the gyro in how it is mounted. This older version is called a turn and bank or turn and slip indicator. This video is part of a new series of #shorts I am making about aviation about bite-size aviation topics. I hope you enjoy them and would love other topic ideas! Visit my website at www.theaviationvault.com to learn much more about aircraft dispatchers, airlines, and dispatch history! Learn more about LeTourneau University's aviation program at www.letu.edu/fly or about our all-online Aviation Studies degree program at http://bit.ly/AviationOnline. Always remember that Laura, when you get right down to it, is just a pilot and a dispatcher. She is explaining facts from the source materials but may be incorrect or out of date. You should always follow your primary guidance (Aircraft manuals, government regulations, etc.) before listening to anything from this YouTube channel. These videos are intended for educational purposes only.
